Joshua S. Schaer

Joshua Schaer has more than seven years of experience representing clients charged in criminal and traffic cases. He also has done work with business contract and intellectual property matters.

Joshua Schaer worked as a public defender in Seattle for three years, handling misdemeanors, expedited felonies, and appeals, before joining an Eastside firm in 2004. He then joined The Law Offices of James Egan in June 2007.

He qualified to serve as a Judge Pro Tempore in the King County District Court, 2007.

He also provided supervision and trial training to legal interns, and regularly judges Moot Court Competitions at the University of Washington.

Joshua Schaer wrote the appellate briefs and successfully argued before the State Supreme Court in City of Seattle v. Clark-Munoz, 2004. The Court's decision resulted in breath test suppression in numerous DUI cases statewide.

He was successful against the City of Seattle's appeal to Superior Court, and stopped the government's opportunity for appellate review in the Court of Appeals - Division One, in a case involving improperly-followed breath test procedures, 2004.

Joshua Schaer graduated from the University of Washington School of Law, 2001. He was named to the Moot Court Honor Board and was Founder of the Technology Law Society. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington, in the Political Science Honors Program, 1998.

Outside the office, Joshua Schaer teaches Sunday School, enjoys baseball, reading about science, and has been active in Eastside politics for many years.
